About me

Andreas Romppel
My name is Andreas Romppel, and I am living in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Although I feel a bit uncomfortable to reduce my roles like that, I would say that I am a strategy consultant, author and speaker (leaving out other things like serial entrepreneur, public relations professional, association president, political scientist, Dilbert lover, aikido amateur or diehard optimist.)
I am specializing in Competitive Intelligence (CI), which is, sadly enough, still a subject I have to explain in Germany. Prior to that, I started my consulting career over a decade ago at one of the leading German PR agencies with clients like eBay, Monster, Sun Microsystems, and Samsung.
Now, I help companies with research and analyses on their competitive environment, by training and management consulting.
My first book titled “Competitive Intelligence - Konkurrenzanalyse als Navigationssystem im Wettbewerb” was published in 2006 and reached the Financial Times Deutschland bestseller list.
As one of the co-founders and current president of the “Deutsches Competitive Intelligence Forum” I try to promote and establish the discipline here in Germany. DCIF is the German representative of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP). As a SCIP member I follow the ethical guidelines of this business association.
Last year I started to teach CI as a member of the visiting faculty of the ZfU International Business School in Thalwil, Switzerland. I also host the CI group at XING which is the leading social network for business in Europe. And if you are able to read German you might find some interesting remarks on intelligence matters at www.konkurrenzanalyse.biz/blog.
